This is an excellent miniature here, very fun to paint with a lot of great detail. Lots of
metal, which is tough to pull of sometimes, but despite that I am happy with it.

This piper is an interesting miniature. It's supposed to be a small person, probably an older boy,
and so the figure is smaller than the average hoplite figure. Most companies don't bother with that, choosing
to keep all figs the same size. I appreciate the size variation though, kudos Immortal! But what's that thing
on his head?

Plastic Ancient Greek Hoplites  -  Posted: September 6, 2011  -  Manufacturer: Immortal Miniatures
Here's the hoplite unit, to play the roll of a troop-sized unit in
Kings of War historical and it's
on a 100mm by 40mm unit base. I tried to get a pretty new citizen levy look to the unit itself, and I'm
happy with it.

This hoplite's shield is based on a coin from Helicarnassus, since these hoplites are from that city.
I'm pretty happy with it's look, although the lion isn't my favourite icon.

More close-ups of the hoplites here, the center one a Persian design. I like the wasp and the
geometric curved lines are pretty common as well, so have to be respresented. I like the striking look
of these figure's shields.

The two shields are a Persian empire eagle and the cool Greek face. These are my two favourite
shield designs from the period I think, and they turned out well. Inbetween there is a dolphin, but it's
tough to see.

A view of the armour of the hoplites. I tried to do more than the standard oatmeal linen colours
so common with linen armour.

In this view a bronze cuirass armoured hoplites stands in front of a hoplite in a plain
linen tunic. From what I understand, this was probably pretty common at the time. Citizen levy
would not be separated based on their wargear typically.

A rear view of the hoplite clothing and armour, as well as the shields. I can't believe the
detail on the back of these shields... I managed to paint it, even though I try not to put too much
time in on the backs of shields... Also, more linen armour colours! I'm happy with these.
