The elven mage turned out well. I cheaped out and went with the simple star pattern on the cloak. That being
said, I like the minimalistic style of some stars and a line along the edge. It sorta breaks expectations for a
wizarding type... no big flames or fancy-schmancy designs! I am very happy with this figure; it's one of the only
figs that can pull off an imposing look when put alone on a 60mm by 60mm base!

This one took some time to settle on a paint scheme... In the end, I simply settled for something
simple... Although it turned out to be not all that simple :) In any case, I'm quite happy with how
it turned out. I added the flag with the idea that it could play a leadership role on the battlefield. The flag
didn't turn out as well as it could have, but it should work fine! I also darkened the blue on this, given
that darker colours mean more wealth.

The riders turned out well I think. They are actually a simple spearman and a bowman
figure from the old plastics. I think they work well enough, and I only had a horn blower and
a banner bearer as riders anyway. I wanted to use those for the hero element... Or something...
In any case, I'm happy with how they turned out.

A rear view. Overall, I liked the chariot kit as well. It is sorta a kit bash... The horses are from
the olf metal high elf silver helms, the body is the old metal chariot and the wheels are from the new
plastic chariot. The wheels that I got with this were extremely bumpy wheels that I'd seen on the
Empire cannons, and I figured the elves couldn't handle such a bumpy ride :) Only eight more AP to finish
this HotT army! Two elements!

When I first saw these dryad figures I thought they were great, but I couldn't bring myself at the time to
use them for anything. So, thanks to the HotT elf project and Mike for making the trade, I finally had some,
along with a reason to use them! Lurkers! I got four, so I figured I would do a couple of elements. This is
the first of the two, and I am happy with how they turned out.

The second element of dryad lurkers for the elves! I am looking forward to taking them out and
seeing how they fare! Just a few more elements left to finish up and the elves are ready to go!

These are likely my best Warhammer elves to date. I realized that I just couldn't do the geometric
wing and gem design again. Also, the rune design wasn't working for me either, so I went the easy way
out and did a dragon. Good times. Although, I have to admit, I'm glad I don't have to do two units of
20 figs each! Hooray for HotT!

More elven bow. I went with more red on this than the previous ones just for something slightly
different. Overall though, they paint up fast and nicely.

A quick picture of the army so far! Elves and bows and eagles! Oh my!

High Elf  -  Posted: March 17, 2010  -  Manufacturer: Games Workshop
One of the old eagles from the GW line. It was a quick paint, and I'm pretty happy with it!
It is meant to add a flyer to my Hordes of the Things elves, but it could skirmish just as easily.
The sculpt is not bad; it has that GW charicature quality, but it's not terrible!

More of those old Warhammer elves! This time it's all about the bows. I even put them at an
angle to reflect how they would have been deployed for Warhammer. Overall, I really like the figs.
They are top notch I think, other than the poor pose variation, I think they still stand up to today's
tough market!

Always one of my favourite units from the High Elves, this beast used to kill file upon file
of my poor little goblins! I wanted to paint it so that it wasn't so cheesy as this one used
to be painted, but still bright and bold, so here's what I came up with! I am happy with it.

A close up of the crew of the bolt thrower. I am pretty happy with them!

I always thought the swordsman was too cool to put with a warmachine, and always imagined
I would use it as a commander for some unit or other. In the end though, I decided to keep it with
the bolt thrower.

Thanks to a gaming buddy who was getting rid of some old figures, I got my hands on these
sweet elves! These figures are early 90s plastic Warhammer High Elves, and back then they
used to walk all over my poor goblins! It was a treat to get them and paint them, and I plan to
do an entire army of these for Hordes of the Things! The scheme was greatly inspired by
David's
wonderful HotT army. Overall, I am happy with the test element! Keep your eyes open for
more to come!

This is the test figure I did for this high elves army. I decided to change the shield
in the end, although I am not sure why now that I think about it... This shield design
is the heraldry of Finwe, High King of the Noldor. I think in the end it was too tough
to repeat the heraldry, so I scrapped it!
