This is the first 28mm army project that I have actually seen through
to the end! As such, I decided to post some complete army shots... This one
and the next four showcase the army assembled!
I had to redo this banner given the quality of the rest of the army and
other banner I had done since the original one. It was tough coming up with
a design, and the execution isn't perfect, but I am happy with it!
Dain, Lord of the Iron Hills, and then Erebor! Or, Durin, Lord of Moria!
I am pretty happy with the way this figure turned out.
I decided it needed torsion ropes. What can you do?
Finally finished the ballista... It isn't perfect, but it is good enough for
me! I am pretty happy with it... May it run through many a dwarf adversary before
it gets crushed under someone's foot ;)
This conversion was for an engineer captain for the dwarf siege machine.
It was a pretty straight forward conversion. To see the green bits, check out

Here is the converted dwarf seige engine engineer. Converted from a
plastic dwarf archer, I think it turned out pretty well... Although I am
not so sure about that stone he's holding... but it looks good enough for me!
Finished my vault warden conversion project! All in all I am quite happy with
how well these plastic dwarf warriors were transformed!
These are the dwarf warden shield bearers without their sheidls.
I figured I would take a picture of their fronts because once the
shields were on, I would never seen them again ;)
The dwarf captain conversion painted. Not too snazzy to out do the king
figures, but a bitmore wealth than your average warrior anyway.
I am not really sure what to do with these kings... I mean, they
have to display wealth beyonf the average soldier, but the way GW
developed the warriors and khazad guard figs it is hard to differentiate...
Anyway, I went with a royal blue here, and then kept the red-brown cloak
to signify the Iron Hills.
Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria... At least until he was skewered by
a goblin arrow anyway. I am pretty happy with this one, very similar to my
dwarf king, but fun and decent turn out none-the-less.
I stripped and base coated this fig some time ago... And started
painting it not too long ago... but then I finally got some
inspiration and finished it off. I am pretty happy with how it turned
out, way better than before :)
Dwarves from the Iron Hills aren't the richest dwarves. Their gold is sparse,
and their iron is hard! For me, the Khazad Guard is simply the standing army,
while your average dwarf axe carrier is a levy or bondi conscript.
I painted these figs with iron chain mail to represent
their lineage. These dwarves will also work well with force from Erebor after
the battle of five armies, since many of the dwarves that populated the lonely
mountain were from the Iron Hills.
These ones have been sitting in my unpainted box for about three
years. I was just about to buy the new plastic dwarves when I remembered
them! About two months after that, I finally got around to painting them!
They turned out well, but not too well that they don't fit in with my old ones.
One thing to note is that the eyes were tough because the sculptors made them
just too big! But I still like them ;)
