Some nice figures painted as Chasseurs - the French light-infantry equivalent of Line Infantry.
These are insanely detailed and the French uniforms are unacceptably difficult to paint. Over all though,
I'm happy with these, even though the white should technically be a warm ivory white of sun-bleached linen...

And here is a comparison of the Napoleonic figures from Perry and HaT miniatures. The HaT figures
are about half the price of the Perry figures, they're easier to put together by far, and they are
pretty much exactly the same size. It's almost like they are from the same range!

Another shot of the HaT and Perry figs together. I doubt I'd ever spend the cash to buy more
Perry miniatures given the price point advantage of the hat figs. Unfortunately HaT never did a regiment-
style set like the Perry bros...

The first contribution to wargaming from the old-school model figure makers, these HaT
figs are the low budget gamer's dream come true! So, what's the deal with thes figures then?
They are true 1/56th scale figures, so they are very slight compared to every other 28mm figure ever.
Also, they are scaled down from large masters done in a true scale, so their details aren't very deep in 28mm.
As a conseuquence, the details are pretty soft and some disappear after the under coat and the first colour
coat are applied! Well, some of the details disappear, like waste coat pockets, cord braids, etc. Still
they paint up pretty well, and they look good on the base... I'll use them!

For scale comparison. To the left are Warhammer Elves from the early 90s. These figures
look rediculous beside each other! The elves look good to me on their own, and the Voltiguer from HaT look
smallish on their own, but beside each other the elves look like dwarves with huge heads and hands (imagine
what WH dwarves would look like...) while the Voltiguer look pretty good. Note though that they are the
same height. This is the different between 28mm scale and 1/56th scale... So, all you guys who use 1/56th
scale vehicles: obviously 1/56th scale and 28mm scale don't work together ;) To the right is a 15mm Spanish
medieval king.

Here we see the HaT Voltiguer next to Wargames Factory's Viking figures. Notice that they are also
the same height, and that the proportions of the vikings aren't all that much bigger than the Voltiguer.
Still, the viks are a lot bulkier, and their heads and hands are bigger, and so the Wargames Factory details
are a lot better! I wonder how the Zulu wars Brits would compare to the HaT Voltiguer?
